Mark worked for 23 years at Tesco at both a National and Regional level and has experience in supply chain, in-store operations, distribution as well as commercial buying. During his final 5 years at Tesco, he was responsible for developing and managing the commercial operation in Wales. Mark has a passion for developing SMEs to their full potential and worked with over 80 producers, supplying over 500 products across the Welsh Tesco Stores.
Since 2014, Mark developed the Food Category Strategy at the National Procurement Service, covering all aspects of public sector food spend across Wales. This involved regular interaction with key wholesale and foodservice partners supplying into the sector and regular interaction with producers looking to supply the public sector in Wales.
Since joining Levercliff in 2016, Mark has assisted a number of clients in preparation for meeting trade buyers, helping to shape their product offering and activity.
In 2017, the Welsh Drinks Cluster was launched which Mark leads, helping to develop the Drinks Sector Strategy with the Food and Drink Wales Industry Board and support over 170 drinks producers in Wales.
In 2020, the Sustainability Cluster was launched by the Welsh Government which Mark now leads alongside the Drinks Cluster, working with over 90 Welsh producers, academia and support organisations to improve their sustainability credentials.
Mark has over 30 year’s experience in the food and drink sector, with 14 of these being solely in Welsh food and drink.
